This combination gives the mattress a slightly softer filling than plain tail hair, while fully preserving the excellent ventilation and rapid moisture-wicking properties typical of horsehair. The Organic Horsehair Mattress is ideal for people of normal body weight who are looking for a healthy, sustainable, and purely natural mattress.

The purely handcrafted construction gives this mattress a solid, shape-retaining build. The linen piping around the edges protects the borders and, together with the special internal stitching technique, contributes to long-lasting dimensional stability.

What makes horsehair special?

The curled horsehair in this mattress is especially breathable and wicks moisture away quickly. The curled hair structure ensures constant air circulation within the core, keeping the sleeping climate fresh and dry. A layer of cotton and linen on the inside of the ticking prevents hairs from poking through the sleeping surface. Construction and Craftsmanship

The ticking of the Organic Horsehair Mattress is a herringbone weave of half-linen and cotton and is internally quilted with a layer of sheep’s wool of 450 g/m². The linen piping all around and the special internal stitching technique together ensure a stable and durable mattress that retains its shape for a long time. This is a craft quality that is becoming increasingly rare in the modern mattress industry.

Use and Care

The Organic Horsehair Mattress should be rotated regularly to promote even wear. The mattress is not washable. Regular airing helps preserve the ventilating and moisture-wicking properties of the horsehair.
