The Futon Mattress Wool is a purely organic futon mattress constructed from 13 layers of 100% organic sheep’s wool. Wool is naturally a capillary fiber that quickly wicks moisture away from the body and has inherent antibacterial properties. This futon mattress provides a comfortable, warm, and healthy sleep climate that feels pleasant year-round.

Like all futon mattresses, the Futon Mattress Wool adapts to the base: on a firm tatami, it feels medium-firm, while on a flexible slatted base, it feels slightly softer. Thanks to the wool filling, this mattress also pairs excellently with flexible slatted bases.

Why Wool in a Futon Mattress?

The capillary fiber structure of organic sheep’s wool ensures rapid and effective moisture wicking, keeping the sleep surface dry and comfortable. The natural lanolin layer in wool fibers provides antibacterial properties and contributes to a healthy sleep climate, even for those with allergies. The wool for this futon mattress comes from certified organic sheep farms in Germany and Austria and is processed according to GOTS guidelines.

Construction and Craftsmanship

The futon mattress is held together by an internal stitching technique that firmly connects the wool filling and cover without buttons or tassels on the sleep surface. This ensures a flat and comfortable lying area and extends the mattress’s lifespan, as the outer fabric isn’t pierced. The cover is finished all around with a classic linen trim for a sleek and refined appearance.

Use and Care

By regularly rotating and rolling up the Futon Mattress Wool, especially during the initial break-in period, the wool filling distributes evenly and the mattress takes on its optimal shape. Regularly airing out the mattress, preferably in fresh outdoor air, preserves the natural properties of the wool and contributes to a fresh sleep environment.
